Today we arose somewhat more refreshed, as there had been no rain last night, and the temperature was a bit higher. We left camp around 10:30 and proceeded back to our worksite. Haley, Jasmine, Emily, and Melanie assembled geoblock at drop site 1. Justin, Michael Shyer, and Shane stayed up at the head of the trail working with Tom and Mike, grubbing trail where needed, and placing geoblock onto the cleared turf.
The work was hard but satisfying, and we took periodic breaks to enjoy the patches of sunlight that broke through the clouds. Our work was also punctuated by some stops to watch eagles fly by and to talk to several hikers and ATV riders passing through the trail. After lunch, the day seemed to fly by, and before we knew it, another workday had drawn to a close.
The dinner crew had prepared a pasta, veggie and hash-brown casserole for us by the time we returned to camp. We filled ourselves up, and once again split off to do our own thing, some opting to play cards, while others went kayaking with Andy, or went off to bed. The light rain beat a quiet tattoo on the roofs of the tent lulling us to sleep for yet another night of well-deserved rest.
